The short answer: you need the Starter plan or higher. In your app, open Dashboard, then Domains, click Connect existing domain, and either let Base44 set up your DNS or add the records yourself: an A record to 216.24.57.1 (or ANAME to base44.onrender.com) and a CNAME for www. SSL is automatic.
These steps and records come from Base44's own help docs, checked on October 30, 2026. Always copy the values your own dashboard shows. GenVibe, mentioned at the end, is our product.
How to connect your domain, step by step
- Check your plan. Custom domains need the Starter plan or higher. Starter is $20 a month, or $16 a month billed yearly.
- Open your app’s Domains page. In the app editor, click Dashboard, then Domains.
- Add your domain. Click Connect existing domain, enter your root domain (for example mybusiness.com, without www) and click Add. Base44 connects the www version with it.
- Point your DNS to Base44. Either let Base44 set up your DNS by signing in to your domain provider and approving the changes, or open More actions next to the domain, click DNS instructions, and add the records yourself.
- Verify the domain. Click Verify domain. Base44 issues the SSL certificate on its own once the records resolve. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours, though most are much faster.
Letting Base44 set up the DNS is the quickest way, and it's the option that opens first: you sign in to your provider (GoDaddy, for example), approve the changes, and your app is usually live on the domain within 30 minutes. Base44 lists every record it will replace before you approve, and it leaves your email (MX and TXT) records alone. If someone else manages your DNS, choose Connect a different way, then Send login link to admin.
The DNS records, if you add them yourself
| Type | Host | Value |
|---|---|---|
| ANAME or ALIAS (root domain) | @ | base44.onrender.com |
| A, if your provider has no ANAME or ALIAS | @ | 216.24.57.1 |
| CNAME | www | base44.onrender.com |
| CNAME, for a subdomain like app.yourdomain.com | app | base44.onrender.com |
Use one root record (ANAME/ALIAS or A, not both) plus the www CNAME. In the host field type only @ or www, not the full domain. Then click Verify domain in the DNS instructions window.
No domain yet? The free one on yearly plans
You can also click Buy Domain on the Domains page; since September 9, 2026 those domains come from Wix, with DNS and SSL set up for you. Every yearly plan from Starter up includes one free domain for the first year. Claim it within 60 days of starting the yearly plan. It covers public registration only, private registration costs extra, and monthly plans don't include it.
When your domain won't connect
- Old records: remove other A records for the root (parking pages too), every AAAA record, and any domain forwarding. They send visitors elsewhere or block verification.
- Security warnings: remove CAA records that block Base44's certificate authorities, and on Cloudflare set the Base44 records to DNS only (grey cloud).
- Records added in the wrong place: add them where your nameservers point. If the nameservers point to Cloudflare, records at the company you bought from do nothing.
- Still pending after 48 hours: run a WHOIS lookup. A domain on
clientHoldorserverHoldneeds your registrar to fix it. - www or root not loading: check the
@record for the root and thewwwCNAME for www. Base44 always sends www visitors to the root; that redirect can't be turned off.
Two limits worth knowing: images and files your users upload keep a base44.app address even on your own domain, and your app keeps loading at its base44.app address too. Base44 tells search engines your custom domain is the main one.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a custom domain on the Base44 free plan?
No. Custom domains start on the Starter plan, $20 a month or $16 a month billed yearly. On Free you can still personalize your app’s built-in address, such as best-business.base44.app, from the Domains page.
What DNS records does Base44 need?
For a root domain, an ANAME or ALIAS record for @ pointing to base44.onrender.com, or, if your provider has no ANAME or ALIAS, an A record for @ pointing to 216.24.57.1. Add a CNAME record for www pointing to base44.onrender.com. A subdomain such as app.yourdomain.com needs only a CNAME to base44.onrender.com. Always copy the values your Base44 dashboard shows.
Why won’t my Base44 domain verify?
Usually an old record is in the way. Remove other A records for the root, any AAAA records, CAA records that block certificates, and domain forwarding or parking. On Cloudflare, set the Base44 records to DNS only. Then click Verify again, and allow up to 48 hours for DNS to spread.
Does Base44 give you a free domain?
On yearly plans, yes: every yearly plan from Starter up includes one free domain for the first year, which you claim within 60 days from your app’s Domains page. It covers public registration only, and monthly plans don’t include it.
Can I make www my main address on Base44?
No. Base44 always redirects www to the root domain, and there’s no setting to reverse it. Both versions load your app as long as the www CNAME record is in place.
What happens to my domain if I cancel Base44?
Custom domains are a Starter-and-up feature, and Base44 says you may lose paid-only features on the Free plan. Plan where your domain will point before your billing period ends. A domain bought through Base44 has its own subscription and renewal date, listed next to your plan on the Plan & Subscriptions page.
