Lovable vs Emergent: Which AI App Builder Should You Use?

Compared on price, credits, mobile apps, the cost of publishing and code ownership, with a clear pick for each kind of project.

The short answer: pick Lovable for a polished web app you iterate on quickly, with credits that roll over. Pick Emergent if you need a mobile app too, or want an agent that plans, builds and tests largely on its own. Lovable is web only and starts at $25/month; Emergent does web and mobile from $20/month, but charges extra to put your app live.

Full disclosure: GenVibe, the third option at the end, is our product. Prices below are from Lovable's and Emergent's own pages, checked in October 2026.

Where Lovable wins

  • Polished web apps. Lovable's default design is among the best of any AI builder, so a dashboard or SaaS looks finished with little prompting.
  • Fast iteration. It's built around quick chat edits and visual tweaks, which suits designers and founders refining a product.
  • Friendlier credits. Unused monthly credits roll over while you're subscribed, and the 5 daily credits on top give you room to keep going.
  • Publishing is part of the plan. No extra credits to put your app online.

Where it falls short: no native mobile apps. The Lovable phone app launched in April 2026 lets you build from your phone, but what it builds is still a web app.

Where Emergent wins

  • Mobile apps. Emergent builds React Native apps with Expo that you can test on your phone, as well as web apps.
  • More autonomy. Its agents plan the work, write the code and run tests, which suits people who want to describe an app and step back.
  • A cheaper entry plan. Standard is $20/month for 100 credits.
  • Heavy-duty Pro plan. At $200/month, Pro adds a 1M-token context window and custom agents for large projects.

Where it falls short: going live costs at least 50 credits plus a monthly fee, which is half of Standard's monthly credits; monthly credits don't roll over; and a single large feature can use hundreds of credits. See Emergent pricing explained for the full breakdown.

Which should you choose?

  • A web SaaS or dashboard that has to look great: Lovable.
  • An app for iPhone and Android: Emergent (Lovable can't).
  • You want to describe it and let the agent run: Emergent.
  • You edit a lot and want credits to last: Lovable.
  • Tight budget, web and mobile: consider the third option below.

A third option: GenVibe

If you want what both offer for less, GenVibe builds web apps and React Native (Expo) mobile apps from a prompt, a Figma design or a screenshot. Publishing to a live URL is free on every plan, including free, and paid plans start at $12/month for 100 credits ($9 the first month). Where it loses: Lovable's default design is more polished out of the box, and Emergent's Pro plan offers a larger context window for very big projects.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lovable cheaper than Emergent?
