The short answer: you need a paid Lovable plan. Go to Settings → Domains, click Connect domain, and add two records at your domain provider: an A record pointing to 185.158.133.1 and the TXT verification record Lovable shows you. SSL is set up for you, and most domains go live within a few hours.
These steps and records are from Lovable's own docs, checked on October 27, 2026. GenVibe, mentioned at the end, is our product.
Connect your domain, step by step
- Open Domains. In your Lovable project, go to Settings → Domains, or open the Publish dialog and choose Add domain.
- Choose Connect domain. Click Connect domain for a domain you already own (or Buy new domain to buy one through Lovable), then type the domain name and continue.
- Pick root domain or subdomain. Choose Root domain for yourdomain.com, or Subdomain for something like app.yourdomain.com.
- Set up DNS. Use the automatic setup if Lovable recognises your DNS provider, or add the records by hand: an A record pointing to 185.158.133.1 and the TXT verification record Lovable shows you.
- Click Done and wait. Click Done. Lovable issues a free SSL certificate once the records are found. Most domains are live within a few hours; DNS can take up to 72.
The DNS records Lovable needs
| Type | Host | Value |
|---|---|---|
| A | @ (root) or your subdomain | 185.158.133.1 |
| TXT | _lovable (root) or _lovable.app for app.yourdomain.com | Starts with lovable_verify=, shown during setup |
For www, connect the root domain and keep the option that redirects www.yourdomain.com to yourdomain.com switched on. It's the default.
Domain stuck on Offline? Check these
- The A record. It must point exactly to 185.158.133.1. A typo or a deleted record keeps the domain offline.
- Old AAAA records. Delete any AAAA records left for the same name; they can send visitors to your old host.
- Cloudflare. Set the records to DNS only, not Proxied.
- Time. DNS changes can take up to 72 hours, though most are live within a few hours.
- Your plan. Custom domains stop working if the workspace drops to Free; see what happens when you cancel Lovable.
Custom domains for less: GenVibe
On GenVibe, every app publishes to a free genvibe.app link, and every paid plan adds a custom domain and removes the badge, from $12 a month for 100 credits ($9 for the first month). GenVibe builds web apps and React Native (Expo) mobile apps from a prompt, a Figma design or a screenshot. Already on Lovable? Push the project to GitHub and use Clone a Git Repo on GenVibe's home page.
Where it loses: Lovable sells domains inside the app and its default design is more polished, and GenVibe's free plan is 20 credits once, not a daily allowance. See also how to remove the Lovable badge, or try GenVibe free →
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a custom domain on Lovable’s free plan?
No. Lovable’s docs say custom domains are available on paid plans. Pro starts at $25 a month. If you downgrade to Free later, the custom domain stops working.
What DNS records does Lovable need?
For a domain bought elsewhere: an A record pointing to 185.158.133.1, and a TXT record for verification with the host _lovable (or _lovable.<subdomain> for a subdomain) and a value that starts with lovable_verify=. Lovable shows the exact value during setup.
How do I make www work with Lovable?
Connect the root domain and leave the option that redirects www.yourdomain.com to yourdomain.com switched on. It is on by default.
Why does my Lovable domain say Offline?
Usually the A record is wrong, missing or still propagating. Check it points to 185.158.133.1, delete any old AAAA records for the same name, and if you use Cloudflare set the records to DNS only rather than Proxied. Then give it a few hours.
Does Lovable give me SSL (https)?
Yes. Lovable sets up a free SSL certificate for your custom domain automatically.
Can I buy a domain through Lovable?
Yes. Choose Buy new domain in the Domains settings; Lovable registers the domain for you and sets up SSL.
