The short answer: on lovable.dev, open Workspace settings, go to Plans & credit usage, select Manage on your plan card, then select Downgrade to free. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period. Lovable doesn't refund the current period, and your custom domain stops working once you're on Free.
These steps are from Lovable's own help docs, checked on October 27, 2026. GenVibe, mentioned at the end, is our product.
How to cancel Lovable, step by step
- Open Plans & credit usage. On lovable.dev, open Workspace settings and go to Plans & credit usage. Only workspace owners and admins can change the plan.
- Select Manage on your plan card. Use the Manage button on the plan card. The credits dropdown on the same card only changes credit tiers and can’t move you to Free.
- Select Downgrade to free. Choose Downgrade to free and finish the flow. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the billing period, then the workspace moves to Free.
Until the period ends, the Manage dialog shows Cancel downgrade instead of Downgrade to free, so you can change your mind. On a phone, use lovable.dev in your browser: the Lovable mobile app has no cancel option.
What happens after you cancel
| Thing | After you move to Free |
|---|---|
| Monthly and rolled-over credits | Frozen and not refunded; usable again if you re-subscribe before they expire |
| Top-up and bonus credits | Still usable until they expire |
| Published apps | Stay live; workspace-published apps become invite-only on your next publish |
| Custom domain | Stops working |
| "Edit with Lovable" badge | Comes back when you republish |
| Refund | None for the current billing period |
Before you cancel: save these four things
- Your code. Connect the project to GitHub, which works on every plan, or download a ZIP while you're still on a paid plan. See how to export your code from Lovable.
- Your secrets and API keys. Exports leave out the secrets stored in Lovable, so copy them somewhere safe.
- Your data. The code export includes your database structure, not the data in it, so export the data you need before you go.
- Your domain plan. If customers use your custom domain, point it somewhere else before the period ends, because it stops working on Free. See how custom domains work on Lovable.
Cancel, or switch plans?
If the problem is cost rather than Lovable itself, a smaller credit tier on Pro may be enough: Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits, plus 5 free credits a day. If you mostly need a mobile app, Lovable can't build one on any plan, so a different tool makes more sense. Our Lovable pricing guide breaks down every tier.
Where to go next: GenVibe
GenVibe builds web apps and React Native (Expo) mobile apps from a prompt, a Figma design or a screenshot. You can bring a Lovable project with you: push it to GitHub, then use Clone a Git Repo on GenVibe's home page and keep building; you'll need to add your backend keys again. It's free to start with 20 credits and no card, and paid plans start at $12 a month for 100 credits ($9 for the first month).
Where it loses: Lovable's default design is more polished, and GenVibe's free plan is 20 credits once, not a daily allowance. Compare more options in the best Lovable alternatives, or try GenVibe free →
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my Lovable subscription?
Open Workspace settings, go to Plans & credit usage, select Manage on your plan card, then select Downgrade to free and complete the flow. You need to be a workspace owner or admin. The plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.
Does Lovable give a refund when I cancel?
No. Lovable’s docs say that when you cancel, it stops future charges but does not refund the current billing period.
What happens to my Lovable credits when I cancel?
Monthly plan credits and rolled-over credits can’t be used on the Free plan and aren’t refunded, but if you subscribe again before they expire you can use them until their original expiry date. Top-up credits and bonus credits stay usable on Free until they expire.
Will my Lovable app stay online after I cancel?
Yes, published apps stay live on Free. But custom domains stop working, apps published to the workspace switch to invite-only on your next publish, and the “Edit with Lovable” badge comes back when you republish.
Can I cancel Lovable from the mobile app?
No. The Lovable mobile app has no cancel option, so open lovable.dev in your phone’s browser and follow the same steps. Purchases made in the iOS app don’t renew automatically.
Can I undo a Lovable cancellation?
Yes, until the billing period ends. The Manage plan dialog shows Cancel downgrade in place of Downgrade to free; select it to keep your current plan.
